RAW FEEDING
We have feed a raw diet to all our cats for just over four years, and we will never go back to a processed diet. There is no waste, the cats eat everything, I was feed up with constantly feeding, they would eat the gravy and leave the chunks, and were always hungry, now its all gone. They lick the plats clean, and the litter trays smell far better too.
We do recommend a raw diet, over the years, we have noticed how much healthy our cats are, they have really glossy coats, bright eyes, are very rarely ill, and their teeth are much cleaner. A lot of cats suffer with IBS, intolerance to certain foods, feeding a raw diet usually helps with these problems and is far better for their teeth.
We do feed our kittens some Whiskas Kitten food and Royal Canin Biscuit (Babycat) but this is purely as not all kitten owners want to feed a raw diet. They are weaned on raw chicken, and at around 6 weeks, we introduce, rabbit, turkey, and chicken wings, and small amounts of pureed vegetables and fruit. Cats do not like vegetables or fruit, (Gypsy loves melon, no idea why, but she will steal if from anyone who has it, so not quite true that all cats done like fruit) but they do needs some in their diet.
We believe raw feeding is the best food that can be given to any animal, after all it was how nature intend.
Our kittens are a really good size, they leave here at around 13 weeks and weigh around 2kgs, which is well over the recommended weight.
When feeding a raw diet "Barf" you need to feed the following:-
Raw meat ~ Chicken, Rabbit, Turkey, Beef, (NO pork)
Raw bones ~ chicken wings, lamb bones.
Why do owners feed processed food.
So why do we feed processed food to our pets, In a word, convenience! But how convenient is it if your animal develops a persistent itch or eczema, dental problems or smelly breath, flea allergic dermatitis, colitis, food hypersensitivitaminy, lethargy, dull and scurfy coat, arthritis or kidney disease?
The new Natures Menu, makes feeding raw much easier, 70% raw meat and their daily vegetables and fruit all in one.
We would still recommend feeding some chicken wings, at least twice a week.
