SELKIRKS are a new breed to the UK, they were first imported in 2002 and have gained in popularity very quickly, being very similar in size and look to the bsh.  The selkirk is a curly coated cat, but they also come in straighthaired (variant) they can have long or shorthair, they have the most amazing soft coats, and are very loving and affectionate, they just love company and love to have their tummies tickled.  Their nickname is the "cats in sheep's clothing"  They do require some grooming, shorthairs need a comb once a week and the longhairs a couple of times a week.

BRITISH SHORTHAIRS are a lovely chunky cat, they are so cuddly, I just love them, they have a lovely temperament, and are very happy and laid back, they do like a fuss, but this is usually on their terms, they make wonderful pets and  require very little grooming if any.
